Good Bell Maintenance & Steeple Keeping Belton in Rutland
(Please note change of venue)
We will be holding a Steeple Keeping Workshop to help new (or indeed any) ringers with the basics of looking after the bells and associated equipment.
Subjects will include common safety considerations, as well as routine checks for ropes and bells. In fact, anything that is a factor in making your Tower a safe and effective place to ring is good to discuss!
Please let me know if you would like to attend, or if you have any questions regarding Tower Maintenance.
Places may be a bit limited, as we will be going up into the Tower.
Don't forget to come equipped with clothing etc suitable for climbing around in dark, dusty places!

Branch Tour: Saturday 6th July 2019 - 'The Sleaford Circle'
This is a change to the tour advertised in the 2019 programme. Owing to complications in securing access to Taylor's Foundry, the Carillion and Towers in Loughborough, I have arranged an alternative tour not too far away which I hope everyone will enjoy and find equally appealing.
Details of the Towers and times are summarised below:
10.00am - 11.00am
Great Hale, Lincolnshire, St John the Baptist, (GF), 6, 11-2-11 (589kg) in F#. Grid Ref:52.97140 / 0.29155 NG34
11.00am - 12.00noon
Sleaford, Lincolnshire, St Denys, (T), 8, 19-1-0 (978kg) in Eb. Grid Ref: 52.9965 / -0.40911 NG34
12.30pm - 2.00pm
LUNCH: at The New Inn, Folkingham, Lincolnshire NG34 0SW
2.00pm - 3.00pm
Folkingham, Lincolnshire, St Andrew (T), 6, 11cwt (~560kg) in F#. Grid Ref: 52.89034 / -0.40940 NG34
3.00pm - 4.00pm
Billingborough, Lincs, S Andrew, 8, 7-3-11 (399kg) in Ab.
Grid Ref: 52.89404 / -0.33994 NG34
4.00pm - 5.00pm Sempringham Lincolnshire, Abbey Church of S Andrew, 6, 7-0-23 (366kg) in G#. Grid Ref: 52.88212 / -0.35701 NG34 0LW
Note: This tower has no electricity, so as a special treat we will be ringing by candlelight/torch.
I am confident these towers will provide lots of opportunities to ring different bells/weights and experience to those who have not attended a tour before.
Much planning has gone into this so I am hoping this can be well supported by branch members and visiting ringers who wish to join us.
